
Ley Lortie is a non-binary (they/them) multimedia artist whose practice centers around video (live and animation) and 3D modeling but who also explores music, sound, photography, poetry, performance and programming. Their inspiration is most often self-development, with topics in mental health, queerness, paganism, spirituality and witchcraft.
Artistic pursuit started as early as 5 years old in the form of ballet classes, closely followed by piano classes, then gymnastics, guitar, hip-hop dance, theatre and finally their academic studies brought them to cinema, electronic and digital art forms, video, sound, performance, and photography.
Ley has a BFA in Intermedia/IMCA with distinction from Concordia University and a DEP in Cinema from Dawson College (where they made the honours list three out of four semesters). They worked as an assistant editor for Difuze in. from 2021-2023. Previously, they worked for Dawson College both as a student and graduate on video editing and recording of promotional and archival footage of the academic festival “ScienceFest” as well as activities from their SPACE organization.
